Peptides are an important ingredient in skincare products due to their ability to inhibit the release of neurotransmitters, reduce inflammation, protect against UV rays, stimulate the production of Hyaluronic Acid, and improve skin barrier and hydration.

What are Peptides? Peptides are short chain amino acids that occur naturally in the body. When a molecule containing between 2-50 amino acids they are called peptides. Unlike proteins, which are longer chained amino acids, peptides can more easily penetrate the skin and be absorbed by the body due to being smaller and more easily broken down. Peptides perform best when combined with Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This is why we include HA in three molecular weights within our serums for optimal results, and Kakadu Plum, which contains the highest concentrations of natural Vitamin C.

Neurotransmitter inhibitor peptides work by blocking the nerve signals that activate muscular contractions, resulting in the relaxing of facial muscles. With minimized facial movement, new wrinkles are prevented, and existing wrinkles are able to fill in with the body’s production of collagen. Think of this type of peptide as a topical-botox of sorts. Our ATP Serum contains the strong neurotransmitter inhibitor peptide Argireline.
